BA Keith Lemire: 

I will be in Poland for the International board meeting for the next two weeks, I will miss the cabinet meeting. The District 23C Constitution and Bylaws has been updated based on the LCI Standard C&B approved at the International convention. PCC Frank Rowe has the revised copy and I believe may already have it posted on our website.

I will address our Policy and Protocol manual when I return from the board meeting. 

ZC George Blain:

Attended July Cabinet Meeting

Attended Policy & Protocol Committee Meeting via Zoom with Keith Lemire

Attended Zone Chair Portal Training via Zoom with Frank Rowe

Attended Portal Training in-person with Frank Rowe

Assisted in scheduling Governor visitations

Attended club meetings with Norwich and Lebanon

Remaining club visitations are scheduled within the next month or so.

POSITIVE note:

Most Zone 5 Clubs are looking to connect with other District 23C clubs.

There have been multiple instances of Zone 5 Clubs supporting each other, making connections and being open to combining forces to promote growth & service.

CONNECTICUT RIVER LIONS CLUB

• Since chartering in April, club has had 2 CT River Clean-Up events

• Currently planning for another clean up and/or community event 

CROMWELL LIONS CLUB

•  Major sponsor of Cromwell Riverport Festival  (Sept 24-27)

• Community Garden produce to Food Bank all summer

• 4 Trex Benches donated to Community Rose Garden

• Continuing with Trex Recycling until November

• Sponsorship of Middlesex Pride in Service LC 

• CT FoodShare with other 23C Clubs

• Supporting local artistic & historical committee projects

DURHAM LIONS CLUB

• Durham Fair

• Town Food Bank emergency donation of $500 for foodstuffs

• Honduras Children's Project  Golf Tournament  Hole sponsorship

 to benefit an orphanage/school  in Honduras.

FOREST CITY LIONS CLUB 

• Feminine Hygiene program continues with Middletown High School 

• Beman Middle School. Feminine Products and undergarments.

• Meals in Main  - 3rd Sat of each month FCL does meal with local church

• CT FoodShare with other  23C clubs

•  Partnering with Job Corps New Haven  Farm to Table program

• Middletown Public Schools KidSight screenings

• Elevated vegetable & herb garden project with Middletown kids

• Middletown Cares Fire Dept. partnership to start Nov.1 

MIDDLEFIELD LIONS CLUB

• Connecting with other  non-profit groups for future partnerships

• Continuing to establish goals and build up their membership

• Members are focused on getting to know each other.

MIDDLETOWN LIONS CLUB

• Have shifted to VIRTUAL monthly  meetings 

• Leo-Lions from MidState CT Leos transferred into  Club

• Planning  for  LCI’s Vision Week of Service

• South Fire Station Open House Safety Clinic in Oct.

• White Cane Day awareness

• Halloween on Main Street

Concerns: 

Membership recruiting is difficult. 

The chief complaint in discussions  is DUES.
